Required immediately, our Winnipeg office is seeking a Supervisor, Payroll & Benefits.

Essential Functions:
Payroll & Timekeeping

  • Prepare and process -bi-weekly payroll for both Canada and the US
  • Administer and maintain ADP Time & Labor Management (TLM) for US and Canadian employees.
  • Configure and maintain pay rules, overtime rules, premiums, and statutory requirements within ADP TLM by jurisdiction
  • Ensure all salaries are paid accurately and in a timely manner
  • Prepare journal entries, records of employment, T4’s, W2’s, remittances, etc. as required
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as required
  • Handle all inquiries from employees and agencies regarding payroll & benefits
  • Process all salary increases, bonuses, commissions, etc. in accordance with policy or instructions provided
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Preparing remittances and requests for payment as required
Benefit Administration
  • Support with increased accountability for all aspects of benefit administration, including working with benefits consultants, benefit carriers, dealing with inquiries from employees, annual reporting and auditing
  • Ensure new enrollments, terminations or changes to employee benefits are updated timely in all required portals
  • Quarterly and annual Workers Compensation Benefit (WCB) reporting
Retirement Plan Administration
  • Support with increased accountability for US 401(k) plan, and Canadian RRSP/DPSP plan. This include working with carriers, benefits consultants, auditors, etc.
  • Maintain records for contributions made by employees as well as company match and ensure funds are transferred to carrier as required
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure the accuracy of employee enrollment
  • Providing information to new hires and ensuring enrolment is timely
  • Maintain accurate records regarding enrollments, terminations, etc.
  • Assist employees with pension inquiries as required.
  • Support with increased accountability for US non-discrimination testing, 401k annual audit and filing of form 5500 and 8950 with US IRS
Miscellaneous
  • Support HR for WCB annual and/or quarterly reporting for several Canadian provinces and all US employees
  • Work with various jurisdictional works’ compensation boards, ensuring all employees are covered, annual reporting and auditing is completed in a timely manner.
  • Apply for state (US) withholding/SUI numbers as required for new employees
  • Chairing the Health & Safety Committee, scheduling quarterly meetings, preparing & posting minutes
  • In charge of the building maintenance, working with property developer and other service providers as needed
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Competencies:
  • Knowledge of Canadian and US payroll processing is essential
  • Proficiency with ADP TotalSource and Workforce Now networks for both Canada and US is essential
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office software, particularly Excel is essential
  • Experience with all year end processing activities (T4’s, W2’s, WCB, HET) would be beneficial
  • Must be able to handle confidential information with a high degree of ethics and in a professional manner
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability and willingness to learn all aspects of HR, focusing initially on payroll and benefits
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Commerce Degree with an HR specialization
  • Canadian Payroll Association Certification would be an asset
